Pfizer’s vaccine is 50% effective 8-10 days after the first injection and only works after the second dose.
Of the nearly 1 million Israelis who have received the Covid-19 vaccine to date, about 240 are diagnosed with the virus within days of the injection.
This number warns people to protect themselves for weeks after being vaccinated. It takes time for the body to develop effective antibodies against the nCoV virus.

The Pfizer vaccine is not made using the nCoV virus itself, which means that no one can get sick from the injections. Instead, the vaccine contains a genetic code that trains the immune system to recognize the spiny protein on the virus’s surface and generate antibodies against Covid-19.
But this process takes time. Immunity to the virus only increases 8-10 days after the first injection, and the effect is approximately 50%.
This is why a second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, administered after 21 days, is so important. This dose improves the response of the immune system to the virus, making it 95% effective. The immune level will reach approximately 1 week after the second dose, or 28 days after the first dose.
Most of the Israelis who have been vaccinated have had no problems since the injection. About 1 in 1,000 of those injected have mild side effects, and only a few dozen need medical attention.
The most common side effects reported were weakness, dizziness, and fever (319 cases). Five people had diarrhea; 293 people had local symptoms at the injection site, such as pain, limited movement, swelling, and redness; 14 people had a swollen and itchy tongue and throat.
According to TV channel mayThere were 4 cases in Israel that died after vaccination. However, 3 cases were not related to the injection. The fourth case was an 88-year-old man with a serious underlying disease.
