Under thick masks, some people showed fatigue on their way back to the city. “I have been waiting for more than 30 minutes and I have not yet passed the ferry. Today the weather is warm and everyone is tired,” said Van Chien, who lives in Dong Nai.
The Cat Lai ferry management unit has to divide the flow of people into segments to sell tickets in order to increase the number of vehicles, while reducing passenger pickup on the District 2 side (due to the absence of people), allowing for empty routes through the Nhon Trach district to clear congestion. . Traffic police, young volunteers … they mobilize to the maximum to regulate on both sides of the ferry.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Youth Volunteer Ferry Management Company (Cat Lai Ferry Management Unit) said that on the afternoon of January 3, the unit mobilized a maximum of 7 ferries (2 ferries 200 tonnes, 3 100 tonne type ferries and 2 60 tonne type ferries) but not enough. At night, the number of vehicles on the route is more crowded and much higher than during the peak of normal days.
Inside the Giap Bat and Nuoc Ngam bus stations, the number of passengers increased significantly compared to the weekend. Particularly at the Giap Bat bus station on the afternoon of January 3, the number of visitors entering increased by 50-70% compared to the weekend, focusing on the routes of Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Ninh. Binh … The bus station has increased the number of guard personnel at the gate to coordinate interdisciplinary forces to channel and clear the congestion.
