ShirtThe romantic proposal turned into disaster when the couple’s destination at the time was the hospital emergency room.
The incident took place on December 31, 2020 in Falkert (Carinthia, Austria). To have a memorable marriage proposal, a 27-year-old man invited his 32-year-old girlfriend to climb the mountain and asked her.
Perhaps because it was too surprising, the bride after saying “I agree” jumped and fell off the 200 meter high cliff, leaving her boyfriend dumbfounded. Seeing his girlfriend fall, the boy rushed to try to save her. But due to the slippery snowfall, the movements weren’t fast enough, so he couldn’t catch his girlfriend and fell.
Fortunately, the 32-year-old woman fell onto the snow carpet below, lost consciousness due to a concussion, and the young man fell about 50 feet and clung to a cliff, hanging from him. A climber saw two victims and asked for help.
When he was admitted to the hospital, the boy had a spinal fracture and the girl suffered only minor bruises, with no other serious injuries. A police officer who received the incident said the two were very lucky because without the thick snow everything would have been different. “Perhaps other couples also need to learn from the experience that they never propose in dangerous places, no matter how impressive they want to be,” police said.
Meanwhile, the boy shared as he lay in the hospital bed: “I don’t think my proposal is more memorable than expected. Fortunately, we are still alive to see each other.”
