Hanoi20 industrial heating plants installed on the sidewalk of the Bach Mai Hospital Emergency Department help the patient’s family to warm up, to dissipate the cold while waiting for news from relatives.
The north is experiencing long and damaging cold spells, in many places the temperature is below 10 degrees C. The Bach Mai Hospital has built houses for relatives of poor patients for just VND 20,000 per person, day and night. . However, on the sidewalk along the route of the A9 Emergency Department, which receives many emergency patients from the provinces who moved, it has long become the “docking station” for many sick relatives.
The leader of the Bach Mai Hospital said that the hospital’s security force regularly mobilized family members to stay indoors to avoid the cold, ensure health and preserve personal property. However, due to the need to monitor the situation of relatives who are in the emergency room in a timely manner, many people still reside in the benches and trees.
This winter, the hospital bought 20 industrial gas heaters, located on the sidewalks of the A9 road. They are radiant heaters, which use gas as heat generating fuel, with 6 times more heat flow than conventional heaters.
Heaters attract a lot of people to avoid the cold.
Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, 45, from Ha Tinh, said that he had just taken his brother from his hometown to the Bach Mai Hospital for an emergency, he was not yet aware of the situation, so he could not enter the residence from the hospital to rest.
“Standing by the heating tree is very hot. I’m very impatient, I don’t know how he lives or dies, and I don’t know how long to wait and what will happen again,” shared Toan.
