Iran Official: President Trump Will Not Be ‘Exempt From Justice’ | World

The AFP agency quoted Iran’s chief judicial officer, Ebrahim Raisi, on January 1, warning that those who killed General Qassem Soleimani would be “unsafe on the ground.”

The warning was issued by the official as Iran began to celebrate the first anniversary of Soleimani’s assassination in a US airstrike on Tuesday.

In Iran, the head of the judiciary is an officer and head of the Supreme Court and is in charge of managing and supervising the judicial system, unlike the attorney general in charge of direct operations.

Speaking at an event in Tehran honoring Soleimani, Raisi stated that even US President Donald Trump, who ordered the airstrikes, would not be “exempt from justice.”
Soleimani, leader of Iran’s Quds Task Force, was killed in a US airstrike on Iraq’s Baghdad airport, prompting increased tensions between Tehran and Washington.

“They will witness serious revenge. What has happened so far are only fleeting things, “he emphasized.

The event was attended by many senior Iranian officials, representing countries and regional forces such as Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen. Iran is expected to hold another event in the coming days in Kerman, his hometown and Soleimani’s burial site.
