HanoiDNA tests know that the two boys are not of the same lineage, the 28-year-old man went to the men’s hospital to find out about infertility.
At the Hanoi Medical University Hospital, said he has been married for two years, the couple has been very little close. Every time you have sex, the penis is difficult to erect and rarely ejaculates, the amount of semen is very small.
Dr. Ha Hong Cuong, from the College of Namology and Sexual Medicine, said on December 30 that the patient was 28 years old but had genitalia like a little boy. The bilateral testicles are the size of a “peanut” and have almost no genital hair. During the test, the patient has absolutely no sperm in the semen and the amount of male sex hormones is at the level of the boy.
The doctor concluded that the patient was infertile due to Klineifelter syndrome.
Klinefelter was first discovered in 1942, caused by an excess of the X chromosome, resulting in a mutant XXY chromosome (usually XY).
The effects of Klinefelter syndrome are different and lead to different signs and symptoms and changes with age. Klinefelter can negatively affect testicular development, leading to testicular smallness, causing the body to produce lower levels of testosterone. Many people produce little or no sperm, have erection problems, a small penis, an underdeveloped beard, little underarm hair, or pubic hair. The syndrome can also cause a decrease in muscle mass and enlargement of breast tissue.
With Klinefelter syndrome in particular and genetic diseases in general, doctors can diagnose from the 10th week of pregnancy with a very high-precision non-invasive prenatal detection (NIPT) method. It does not affect the health of the mother and the fetus.
According to Dr. Son, men with this syndrome are almost unable to give birth naturally due to a lack of development of the testicles. However, around 20-30% of men with Klinefelter are lucky enough to be able to find some sperm when they perform microsurgery to find sperm in the testes, thus performing in vitro fertilization.
Doctors recommend that prenatal reproductive health screening tests are very important for detecting genetic pathologies in both men and women.
