Reuters reported that Dickson Yeo, a Singaporean, was arrested on his return home after serving a prison sentence in the United States for spying on Chinese intelligence.
The Singapore Department of Homeland Security (ISD) will question Yeo to determine if he is involved in missions that endanger national security.
“Singapore will not allow its citizens to be used by any foreign agent for activities that are detrimental to our security and national interests. The Government of Singapore takes it very seriously. Any Singaporean citizen who has a secret relationship with a foreign government or who spy on orders from foreign powers, ”declared ISD.

The Straits Times newspaper reported in October that Yeo pleaded guilty to spying for China, and was later sentenced to 14 months in prison by a US federal court.
Yeo’s mission is to connect with people with access to confidential information related to the US military and government Since Yeo spent 11 months in prison, he was released and expelled from the United States before January 2021.
In another development, a former US Navy analyst convicted of spying for Israel was greeted and granted citizenship by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
