Because the canal is channeling water to irrigate the area downstream, when the levee breaks, rock and soil have buried more than 2 ha of agricultural land and damaged around 0.4 ha of people’s fish ponds. .

The North Chu River – South Ma River canal project belongs to the Cua Dat Reservoir Project, Thanh Hoa Province, approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Decision No. 2542 / QD-BNN-XD of October 26, 2011. North Chu River Canal – South Ma River takes water from Cua Dat Lake (Thuong Xuan District), with a total length of more than 370 km, the total investment capital of more than 4.3 billion VND. Construction began in 2011 and went online in 2017, serving more than 30,000 hectares of agricultural land for irrigation.
