On the night of December 28, the Can Tho Health Department said that the result of this test of Vietnamese abroad was negative COVID-19. Earlier, Dr. Huynh Minh Truc, director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in the city of Can Tho, said he quarantined and examined a Vietnamese Canadian abroad who entered illegally from Cambodia.

Consequently, Mr. Đ.VH (62 years old, Canadian nationality) declared his residence in Vietnam as Ward 3, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Mr. H, he flew from Canada to Taiwan and then back to Cambodia on December 11. Here he was quarantined by Cambodia upon entering and took samples for analysis.

At the end of the quarantine period, on December 26, Mr. H. and 13 other people arrived at the border gate of Moc Bai (Tay Ninh).

According to Mr. H., all escorts can enter and self-quarantine in Tay Ninh, he cannot enter because he does not have a Vietnamese passport.

Following the instructions of some locals, on the same day, Mr. H. hired a Cambodian motorcycle taxi to drive him along the border and attempt to return to Vietnam.

Upon entering the territory of Vietnam, he hired another motorcycle taxi to take him to Long An Province. The next day, December 27, Mr. H. took a 29-seat bus (in a car with 4 passengers) to return to Can Tho.

Around 10:30 PM, he returned to Can Tho and had dinner on De Tham Street (An Cu neighborhood, Ninh Kieu district), then rented a hotel on Tran Van Kheo Street (Ninh Kieu district) to rest.

On the morning of December 28, Mr. H. went to the Ninh Kieu District Medical Center to report and state the schedule and present the relevant documents.

According to Mr. Huynh Minh Truc, although Mr. H. had a test paper for COVID-19 and completed the quarantine in Cambodia. However, it was determined that he had entered illegally and contacted many people from the border, so the CDC was quarantined at the army’s concentrated isolation facility.

Test results will be available on the afternoon of December 28th.
