Angry that he was locked in the house, when her husband “half” came back from drinking, Oanh stabbed him with a knife and killed him.

On December 28, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court opened a trial in the first instance against the defendant Cao Kieu Oanh (30, from Vinh Long) for the crime of “murder”.

According to the prosecution, Oanh and Nguyen Van Hien, who rent a house in Tan Phu district (Ho Chi Minh City), live together as husband and wife.

At around 10:00 p.m. on December 25, 2019, the two invited Mr. Son Ngoc Anh to the dining room. At 4:00 am the next day, Oanh was drunk, so he went upstairs to sleep. At that time, Mr. Hien and Mr. Ngoc Anh went to the room of Mr. Trinh Hoai Phuc (who lived in the same block with Oanh) to drink.

Thinking that Oanh was asleep, Mr. Hien closed the door of the inn. After a while, when she got up to go to the bathroom, because she couldn’t see him, Oanh opened the door of the inn to look for her but couldn’t open it. Exasperated, Oanh closed the door from the inside.

After drinking, Mr. Hien returned to his room but was unable to open the door and told his wife to “open it”, but Oanh refused to open it, so Hien broke the door and opened the house.

At that moment, Oanh came down the stairs to curse, but did not answer, but went up. Seeing that, Oanh went downstairs to the kitchen and pulled out a knife to prevent her husband from going up to sleep. Mr. Hien said nothing, but continued up the stairs. Oanh immediately stabbed him with a knife many times.

After committing the crime, the accused climbed the stairs to lie down as if nothing had happened.

As for Mr. Hien, after being stabbed by his wife, he sat at the foot of the stairs holding the wound. At that moment a neighbor of the inn passed and rushed him to the emergency room. However, because the injury was too severe, the victim died later.

At trial, the defendant has openly admitted the crime.

Given that the defendant’s behavior is particularly dangerous, strict judgment is required for general prevention and deterrence. Upon consideration, the panel sentenced the defendant Cao Kieu Oanh to 15 years in prison.
