On December 26, the Kiltan participated in the formation movement training (PASSEX), the communication training with the Submarine Fighter Guard Vessel 13 of the Region 2 of the Vietnam People’s Navy and ended her visit to Vietnam.

According to the newspaper Vietnamese NavyThis is the first time in 2020 that the ships of the Indian Navy visit Vietnam. INS Kiltan’s visit to Vietnam is to continue strengthening cooperation with the Vietnamese Army and Navy, helping to promote bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries.

Boat 13 is a Petya II class submarine hunting guard boat, financed by the Soviet Union in the 1980s. The boat is 82 meters long, 9 meters wide, has a displacement of 1,100 tons, is equipped with 2 anti-Ket launchers. RBU-2500 submarines, two double-barreled 76.2 mm AK-726 guns located in the bow and stern, a torpedo launcher composed of 5 406 mm tubes and a BB-1 submersible bombardment platform in the stern.

India is also home to many Petya class submarines, and is gradually replacing it with ships such as the INS Kiltan.

Ship INS Kiltan to Nha Rong Port, HCMC on Dec 25, 2020

INS Kiltan belongs to the Kamorta class of submarines (Project 28, replacing the old Petya submarines). The ship is 109 meters long, displaces 3,000 tons and has a range of about 5,550 km. The ship is equipped with a 76.2 mm Oto Melara cannon, 4 torpedo tubes, two RBU-6000 anti-submarine tanks, 2 AK-630M anti-aircraft artillery; missile bait; Electronic warfare systems, sonar submarines and possibly carry a helicopter.
