According to the Steering Committee, the new case was announced as the 1,440th Covid-19 patient in Vietnam.
Patient 1440 (male, 32 years old, Vietnamese nationality) is located in Nhon Phu Commune, H.Mang Thit, Vinh Long Province.
Patient 1440 was a case from Myanmar who entered illegally via the open road (location verification is in progress) at 2am on December 24 and returned home to Vinh Long.
Immediately after returning to the family, the patient’s relative immediately informed the local police to carry out isolation and timely sampling in Vinh Long.
On December 24, the Vinh Long Center for Disease Control took a sample and sent it to the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City for analysis on December 25. Test results on December 26 from the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City determined that one patient was positive for SARS-CoV-2.
The patient is currently isolated and treated at Vinh Long Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital. All F1 and F2 exposures have been listed and quarantined in accordance with regulations. Vinh Long Province Health Sector has cooperated with Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute and related units to further research and expand.
According to the Steering Committee, of the 1,440 Covid-19 patients registered in Vietnam, 1,303 cases were cured.
Currently, 17,107 people in close contact and entry from the epidemic area are being monitored for their health, of which 856 people are isolated at home and in residence.
