According to Reuters, France recorded the first case of a new variant of the corona virus, while the number of new cases and deaths from COVID-19 is also increasing in the country.
The French Health Ministry said the case was a French man who had just returned from London on December 19 and tested positive for the B.1.1.7 variant of the virus.
The case was registered in the city of Tours. The patient is in quarantine and in stable health.
The first new case of the crown variant in France came at a time when the eurozone’s second-largest economy posted high data on disease. On December 25, France registered more than 20,2 thousand new cases and 159 people died of COVID-19 in 24 hours.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in France so far exceeds 2.5 million, while the number of deaths exceeds 62.4 thousand, the seventh highest in the world.
Before France, on December 24, the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg confirmed that the first new variant of the corona virus had been discovered in this country.
The patient is also a person who has just returned to Frankfurt from Heathrow airport (London, UK) on December 20 after visiting relatives. This person tests after landing and tests positive for the new virus variant B.1.1.7.
All people who had close contact with this person were monitored in isolation.
Many countries, including Singapore, Israel and Japan, have also recorded cases of new coronavirus infections in the UK in recent days.
According to the latest newspaper update Telegraph (UK) As of December 25, at least more than 65 countries have imposed restrictions or bans on flights from the UK due to concerns about a new variant of the corona virus.
Some countries like the United States, while neither prohibiting nor restricting, also require passengers to have a negative test certificate for the corona virus at least 3 days before departure.
The UK also imposed a travel ban on South Africa to avoid the risk of a second variant of the corona virus discovered in the country. Any passenger arriving in the UK who has been in South Africa for the past two weeks must be quarantined.
