Two days later, the friend informed Mr. N. that this lottery ticket had won the special prize. Mr. N. asked but Thanh refused. Due to the suspicion that Thanh brought his lottery ticket to exchange for the prize, Mr. N. reported it to the police.
Mobilized by her family, Thanh surrendered. Thanh stated that after taking the special prize winning ticket from Mr. N., he exchanged it for 1.79 billion VND. After receiving the money, Thanh went to the bank to open a savings book of 1 billion VND, for his younger brother Nguyen Anh Ngoc 250 million VND, he asked another brother to keep 450 million VND for his son and buy jewelry for his daughter for 50 million VND. 40 million dong to ATM card.
In August, the People’s Court of Hau Giang Province tried in the first instance and sentenced Thanh to 7 years in prison for “Theft of property”, and fined Ngoc for 1 year of non-custodial reform for “Failure to report of the crime “.
