After a long search, the Ho Chi Minh City Club finally secured the signing of overseas Vietnamese midfielder Lee Nguyen.

In our interview, Coach Mano Polking confirmed that Ho Chi Minh City has reached an agreement to sign a contract with Lee Nguyen and that this player will return to the HCM City club from the 2021 season. Mr. Polking said: “He is already part of the team, I am very happy that Lee Nguyen came here.“.
Lee Nguyen is one of the elite players in the American Professional Soccer League (MLS). He played in the Inter Miami club jersey last season, the team owned by David Beckham. Before that, he spent many years with Los Angeles FC and achieved many successes in his career.
Lee Nguyen played for the HAGL club (2009-2010) and Binh Duong (2010-2011). Speaking of this period, Lee said: “Vietnamese players are agile and have very skilled feet. Playing football in the V-League is not easy. Every time there is no ball, you must chase it and get it back. It was horrible that it happened in the hot climate of Southeast Asia. 90 minutes can be too long for you‘.
Then, due to the inappropriate environment, the Vietnamese-American midfielder returned to the MLS tournament. He was named to the American squad under Coach Klinsmann.
The HCMC club has been chasing Lee Nguyen since the beginning of this season. The two sides resumed negotiations after the 34-year-old’s contract with Inter Miami expired in early September.
Lee Nguyen will sign a one-year contract with the HCMC club. He will be counted as a national player in the 2021 V-League because he already has the Vietnamese nationality.
