At the investigative agency, Chanh said he lives here and there, addicted to gambling. A few months ago, through an intermediary in Ho Chi Minh City, she met her 50-year-old uncle Nguyen Thi Lan by phone, and then they invited her to live together in Phan Ri Cua, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan . Here, Chanh frequented Ms. Lan’s house, seeing that the owner was carrying a lot of gold and was alone, so the intention arose to kill people and thieves.

To create an alibi, on November 28, Chanh pretended to take a bus back to Hue to visit his family, but in fact, he rented a room elsewhere. On the night of November 30, after carefully observing the surroundings, Chanh entered Ms. Lan’s home to implement his intentions.

The suspect claimed to have used a mortar to hit the owner on the head. Seeing that Lan still had some stamina, Chanh strangled the victim to death. The killer took all of Ms. Lan’s jewelry and rummaged through some other possessions, then used a rag to clean the marks on the floor before leaving. Chanh sold his possessions on the hidden road.

Late on the night of December 12, after 12 days of crime, Chanh was arrested at a hotel in the Trung Son area, Binh Chanh, Ho Chi Minh City. “When under control, the suspect had a small knife on his body. Chanh said that he intends to continue killing the hotel receptionist to steal money at the counter,” said Binh Thuan police leader.

According to Colonel That, the suspect has a careful plan that makes things difficult for the expert committee. Police examined more than 100 suspects. “Phan Ri Cua is quite a complicated area because there are a lot of addicts and thieves, so we have to make a screen with a large number,” Colonel That said.

During the information gathering process, the investigating agency determined that among those who frequently visited the victim’s house was a woman with a Hue accent. But two days ago, this woman was seen heading to Highway 1 to take a car to her hometown. “She has an alibi in terms of time, but we are cautious, let us not ignore,” reports Colonel Tru.

Suddenly, the expert board received the report, after December 28, Chanh was still in Phan Ri Cua. The investigation team reached the address of the person who introduced Chanh to the victim’s uncle on Nguyen Xí Street, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. At first, this person was uncooperative, but later claimed that a “female monster” had stopped to drive through the crossing in Vinh Loc A commune, Binh Chanh district, and then took the car to go to unknown places. Following the trail, the police broke into the hotel to arrest Chanh.

Colonel Tran Van Toan, Binh Thuan Director of Public Security, awarded a bonus of VND 20 million to the specialized committee (12 people) after completing the task.
