On the morning of December 15, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court opened a trial in the first instance of 19 defendants in the Le Quoc Tuan case (ie Tuan “monkey”) shot dead five people at the end of January 2020.
Among the 19 defendants in court, Pham Thanh Tam (born 1978 or Ty Ba Di) was the most popular. Ty Ba Du is the person who has an important role in supplying weapons and maintaining one billion Tuan “monkey” dong.

VKS representatives are currently reading the full indictment of the defendants’ actions in court. According to the indictment, on the afternoon of January 29, 2020, Tuan went to the longan garden in Tan Thanh Dong Commune, Cu Chi District, to kill him. When he ran out of money, Tuan called to ask his cousin Le Quoc Minh to go home with his mother to get 100 million dong. However, after that, Tuan came into conflict with some of the people in the casino, so he left.

An hour later, Tuan grabbed a semi-stacked AK pistol and a bag of ammunition and then drove the motorcycle back to the casino. Here, Tuan opened fire and killed 4 people, 1 injured, then took the SH car with her purse with 802 million VND. Tuan ran to Ty Ba Di’s house, gave the money to his wife, and left. Subsequently, this person continued to carry out a car theft in the afternoon of the same day.
The next morning, Tuan shot and killed a person on Provincial Highway 15, which passed through Phu Hoa Dong Commune, Cu Chi District, then stole a motorcycle and drove back to Hoc Mon District. After throwing the car into the ditch, Tuan’s “monkey” swam to the home of Vo Hong Tam and Nguyen Duy Thanh. Although he knew that Tuan had just committed the crime, this person still supported Tuan to escape, but failed. On the afternoon of February 13, the morning of February 14, the police discovered Tuan’s hiding place, so they organized a siege. When Tuan defended himself, the police killed him.

Tuan’s behavior has sufficient factors to constitute the crime of homicide, property theft, possession and illegal use of military weapons. However, due to Tuan’s death, CQĐT has issued a decision to suspend the investigation against Tuan.
Tam, who went straight to Cambodia, bought an AK pistol, a K54 pistol, a K59 pistol and a bag of ammunition and collected two grenades and took them to Vietnam to hide. After that, Tam gave it to Tuan, Dat, Nguyen Chanh Phap, and Nguyen Phuoc Linh to keep. Tam gave Tuan “monkey” an AK pistol and Tuan used the old pistol to cause a particularly serious case.

In addition to the previous defendant, Tran Quoc Dat (born 1999) was prosecuted for illegally storing and selling military weapons.
The remaining 17 defendants were charged with possession of property committed by another person, illegal possession of military weapons, concealment of crimes and failure to report crimes.
The VKS considers that the conduct of the accused is dangerous to society, violates and negatively affects social order and security, so it is necessary to strictly comply with the law for general deterrence, education and prevention.
