President Donald Trump previously announced on Twitter that he would be involved in the lawsuit as a third party stakeholder. In his petition to the United States Supreme Court, Trump asked nine of his justices to allow him to join the Texas lawsuit brought against Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
The Reuters news agency said that if the US Supreme Court allowed Trump to participate in the Texas lawsuit, it would be an unprecedented event. Writing on Twitter personally, the president declared the Texas lawsuit “a great country event,” expressing confidence in the 9 justices of the Supreme Court.
The accused states have large electoral votes and voted for Trump in 2016, but unexpectedly leaned toward Joe Biden at the last minute in this year’s election. The Trump campaign and its supporters allege that there was a problem with the counting of votes in the battlefield states.
Unlike the lawsuits brought by the legal team and President Trump’s allies, the state of Texas has not charged with voter fraud, according to RT.
However, Texas argued that these four battle states related to “voting irregularities”, “correcting state election laws” were inappropriate and possibly even discriminated against voters. “legal or illegal”.
The Texas lawsuit also requires the Supreme Court to postpone the election college meeting date and vote on Dec. 14. Electoral votes are considered to mark the official victories and failures of candidates in a presidential election.
According to unofficial US media estimates, Biden has a total of 306 electoral votes, well ahead of Trump’s 232 votes. Four battlefield states that were sued contributed 62 electoral votes out of 306 votes for Biden.
