On December 9, the 5th generation Honda City was launched in Vietnam with three versions G, L and RS at prices of 529 million, 569 million and 599 million dong, respectively. In which G, L are similar to differentiate the AT and TOP versions from the previous generation, while the RS sports version is a new option for customers.
The new city continues to be assembled at the national level, the appearance is a transformation compared to its predecessor. The winding personality of the old city almost morphs into a smoother direction, a way to make the B-size sedan suitable for the masses and beyond is the goal of increasing sales.
The new city is 4,553mm long, 1,748mm wide and 1,467mm high. These parameters correspond to the length and width increased to 113mm and 54mm respectively compared to the predecessor. Two versions G, L come with halogen lens headlights, the RS version is full LED. All 3 versions have LED daytime running lights.
The first part of the 2020 Honda City with a “wings” design is extended with a chrome bar along the front of the steering wheel, connecting the headlights. Overall, it is more fluid and balanced than its predecessor. The LED taillights also have a new shape.
The new City RS version differs from the other two versions by a sporty body kit on the outside. The steering wheel, rear view mirror, shark fin antenna and sport spoiler are painted black. This version comes with 16-inch, twin-spoke and 5-spoke wheels. While the L version has 16-inch wheels and a 15-inch G version.
The 2020 City cabin brings a new look. The touchscreen increased from 6.8 inches to 8 inches (with Hyundai Accent) in all three versions, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Newly designed steering wheel with paddles in the RS version. The speedometer remains analog rather than digital like its rival Accent.
On the RS and L versions, Honda installed armrests with a storage compartment, air conditioning doors for the rear seats. The G version is more modest with just a water bottle holder near the gear stick. The taller RS version has an additional remote engine start function, 8-speaker audio, a USB charging port integrated in the rear spoiler, a document compartment behind the driver’s seat and an armrest with a cup holder integrated in the row. back seat.
The 2020 Honda City’s engine still uses the old 1.5-liter 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine, with a capacity of 119 hp (1 hp more than before) at 6,600 rpm and maximum torque of 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm. CVT gearbox.
Like Hyundai Accent, Honda City doesn’t make much of a difference in safety gear between versions. All City G, L and RS have electronic balance, emergency brake assist, hill start assist, electronic brake force distribution, ABS, reversing camera (G version not available). Pricing remains unchanged, Honda City remains the most expensive product in the segment, but is more competitive with its competitors thanks to the addition of a VND 569 million mid-range version. Compared to Vios or Accent, there are floor numbers (VND 470 million price range) aimed at customers buying service cars, City almost ignored this segment.
After 11 months of 2020, Honda City sold 5,589 cars, ranking fourth in the segment after Kia Soluto, Hyundai Accent and the sales king of Toyota Vios, with 26,198 vehicles.
