Sharing with PV, driver Ngo Ba Ta (25 years old) said that driving GrabBike is his main job for almost 2 years. When he heard that Grab increased the fare for each trip, he disagreed with this.

“We were at headquarters around 8:00 this morning, everyone turned off the app to protest this tax increase policy. If said tax increase is 13,000 VND, the driver will only get 8,000 VND, the rate increase like this is too unfair for drivers like us. “ Mr Ta said.

Due to the large number of drivers arriving, making traffic difficult, the Cau Giay district police sent forces to remember to ensure safety and order.

Speaking to PV, a media representative for Grab said that he had learned that drivers were focusing on opposing the tax increases in Hanoi. Grab’s side cut off people to talk and explain to the driver.

“The unit is trying to explain to the driver, this is state regulation, but Grab’s side is not voluntarily increasing. Too many gathered drivers were in epidemic season so the unit was unable to gather everyone to speak. In fact, we have already communicated many times about this problem “, said the representative.

The traffic is difficult

Previously, to guarantee the income of the driver when the VAT increased according to Decree 126, Grab has just increased the price of 5-6% of taxi services, taxi technology nationwide.

Consequently, the first 2km fare for the 4-seat GrabCar service in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Can Tho increased to VND 27,000, 2,000 more than before December 5. This rate in other cities like Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Da Nang … increased 3,000 VND to 25,000 VND.

Grab was also adjusted to increase the rate per km (after the first 2 km) for the 4-seater GrabCar service from VND 500-1,000 depending on the city. In which, 1,000 VND is the largest increase applied to customers in Hanoi and Bac Ninh.

The police mobilize to guarantee safety

Currently, the price per km of GrabCar 4 seats in these two cities is 9,500 VND, equivalent to Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai. The company also adjusted the rate for the 7-seat GrabCar service with the increase rate equivalent to 4 seats.

With the motorcycle taxi service with GrabBike technology, the rate per km (after the first 2 km) has increased from 3,400 VND to 4,000 VND. And the rate calculated according to travel time (after the first 2 km) increased from 300 to 350 VND per minute.
