Thuc’s family said on November 30, when they visited him in a detention center in Nghe An province, Thuc said that he went on a hunger strike to “protest against the People’s Supreme Court which does not respect the law, does not respond to an exemption request. He went to court for the first time on January 20, 2010 with Mr. Le Cong Dinh, Nguyen Tien Trung and Le Thang Long.

They were accused of carrying out activities aimed at overthrowing the popular administration, in accordance with article 79 of the Penal Code.

He received the most severe sentence of 16 years in prison and 5 years of probation, while the defendants in the same case were sentenced to between five and seven years in prison.
