Ho Chi Minh City temporarily closed the isolation area, including 2 Vietnam Airlines facilities on Hong Ha Street (Tan Binh District), the company’s employees were transferred to another location.

On December 2, a representative for Vietnam Airlines said that as of November 28, the airline had 101 quarantined employees at the two aforementioned facilities, including 48 pilots, 16 flight attendants, nearly 40 ground employees and said aircraft maintenance. These people, in turn, were transferred to other facilities or their quarantine period ended in recent days.

On December 1, when the Center for Disease Control in Ho Chi Minh City worked with representatives of Vietnam Airlines on the temporary closure of the delegation isolator, there were also 61 people being pilots, flight attendants and service personnel. . They were transferred to isolation at Park Royal Hotel Saigon (room 1) and De Nhat Hotel (room 4, the same Tan Binh district). In which, the service personnel, the flight attendants without flight schedule will be separated by 14 days; the remaining cases remain isolated or fly internationally under the direction of the health sector.

In addition to the quarantine area above, Vietnam Airlines also has another quarantine facility in the north, located at 200 Nguyen Son, Long Bien District (Hanoi); It is isolating 164 assembled people, including 34 pilots, 96 flight attendants. Currently, the Hanoi Department of Health has not decided to close this quarantine facility.

Speaking at the city’s Covid-19 epidemic prevention meeting on the afternoon of December 2, the deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Health, Tran Van Chung, said the risk of infection at the crew isolation site flight is very high. Therefore, he suggested that the crew members should perform isolation for 14 days, then go home to monitor for another 14 days, strictly supervising.

Long Bien District People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Manh Ha said that since June until now, the district has checked the 200 Nguyen Son quarantine area 90 times; They propose to handle 3 cases of non-compliance with the regulations on epidemic prevention and control.

According to the current process, the flight crew members are centrally isolated after entering the country, with negative results twice, for at least 72 hours, they will be able to self-quarantine. Representatives of Vietnam Airlines said that after the case of “patient 1342”, the company will request during the concentrated isolation to carry out tests 3 to 4 times instead of two.

Before stopping the company’s isolation point in Tan Binh district, a representative for Vietnam Airlines said “very affective workforce to fly.” All flight crews had to be isolated for 14 days at Cu Chi, regardless of the number of negative tests, which led the company to face the risk of staff shortages, especially pilots and flight attendants. Currently the airline has more than 1,000 pilots and around 3,500 flight attendants.

Last time, in order to ensure sufficient manpower to operate, Vietnam Airlines allowed the 14-day quarantine group to continue serving international flights. These people just need to have tested negative enough times.

“After having 2 negative test results, if they do not continue to fly international flights, the flight crew must be isolated at home for 14 days. When on an international flight mission, they can only fly on the correct domestic route. And it cannot go inland, ”said a company representative.

Engaging a male host as “patient 1342”Today, Vietnam Airlines has issued an apology “for the unexpected incident”. This flight attendant agency has seriously violated state and company quarantine regulations. “After completing the quarantine procedures, this flight attendant will be sanctioned. The corporation is also evaluating and clarifying the responsibilities of the people involved,” said the company representative.

Japan’s “patient 1342” entered Vietnam on November 14 and remained in an isolated area managed by Vietnam Airlines at 115 Hong Ha, Ward 2, Tan Binh District, from November 14 to 18. During the 4-day isolation here, two patients (including “patient 1342”) violated the regulations, going from one quarantine area to another.

After testing 2 times, the result was negative, the flight attendant went to quarantine at an inn on Bach Dang Street, Ward 2, Tan Binh District. During quarantine, he exposes and infects an English teacher. This teacher again infects two people with VOC.

During the meeting with the government on the afternoon of December 1, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City proposed to remove the regulations on separate solitary confinement for flight crew members. When the crew members return from abroad, they must be isolated for 14 days, not being allowed to apply the mixed isolation regime at the same time at home.

In June 2020, Vietnam Airlines established an isolation facility in Hanoi and two facilities in Ho Chi Minh City (both on Hong Ha Street, Tan Binh District), in order to isolate officers, employees, pilots , There is a risk that a flight attendant during a mission will become contaminated with VOCs.

The facilities are approved by Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City based on evaluation and evaluation by the Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control (CDC). So far, the three facilities have isolated Vietnam Airlines staff members, employees, pilots and flight attendants nearly 10,000 times.
