On the afternoon of December 2, an image of medical staff gathered in a hotel on Hang Bong Street, Hanoi, appeared on social media, causing people to become agitated.

Khong Minh Tuan, deputy director of the Hanoi Center for Disease Control, said it is a foreign patient who was transferred to a hotel that was selected for quarantine immediately after entry.

A 25-year-old male patient of Indian nationality was sampled on December 1 and tested positive for SARS-Cov-2. Immediately afterwards, this patient was transferred by city medical personnel for treatment at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases. Currently the patient is awake, does not have a fever or a sore throat.

“There is no problem because this is an immigration patient and is in a quarantine zone allowed by the city. Everything is safe, people do not have to worry” Mr. Tuan said.

So far, Hanoi has gone through a series of 106 days with no cases in the community. The City’s Steering Committee for Disease Control recommends that people continue to strictly implement measures such as wearing masks, washing hands frequently, avoiding crowds, … in the face of the complicated situation of the epidemic.
