According to radio RT, many Iranian media quoted Iranian officials as saying that IRGC commander Muslim Shahdan and his three escorts were killed after the vehicle carrying him was attacked by a UAV near the Syria-Iraq border.
Two Iranian security officials revealed that Shahdan’s vehicle was armed and was attacked shortly after crossing the border from Iraq to Syria through the Al Qaim border gate.
The men’s bodies were reported to have been transferred to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Iran has not yet confirmed this information.
The drone strike comes just two days after Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was shot dead north of the capital Tehran. Iranian officials accused Israel of being behind the murder and vowed revenge.
New developments in the murder of Iranian scientists (PLO) – Iranian media reported that the remnants of weapons at the scene of Fakhrizadeh’s assassination bore the logo and specifications of the Israeli military industry.
