In an exclusive interview with the station NBC NewsBiden said his transition team had already begun meeting with federal security officials, as well as accessing funds to pay the group’s salaries.
Biden has also started receiving daily reports specifically for the president and is working with the Trump administration’s COVID-19 pandemic agents to discuss vaccine distribution plans in the near future.
In particular, Biden confirmed the Trump administration’s move, with a softer “tone” than criticism leveled at Trump in the past.
“I have to say that the Trump administration’s approach was sincere, not reticent, and I didn’t expect it,” Biden said.
The president-elect also said that his term would not be “Obama’s third term,” as the world has changed a lot during the years Trump was in the White House.
“This is not Obama’s third term because we have to face a completely different world than the Obama / Biden administration. President Trump has changed the situation to America first, America alone. Toxic,” said Mr. Biden.
Biden also confirmed that he would not investigate Trump after he entered the White House.
“I will not do what this president does and I will use the Justice Department as my vehicle. My goal is to return Americans to a stronger life,” he said.
Previously, Biden often criticized Trump for refusing to lose and preventing the Biden group from accessing resources for the transfer, amid still raging COVID-19 and economic instability.
Biden has been able to announce various names for the cabinet and other high-level positions during this time.
It should be noted that although the transfer of power is occurring, Trump has not officially admitted losing and is still pursuing legal cases.
