At the regular press conference in the afternoon of November 19, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang also provided an update on Mr. O’Brien’s visit to Vietnam. Accordingly, from November 20 to 22, the United States National Security Advisor will officially visit Vietnam, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Additionally, O’Brien will speak with students at the National University of Hanoi on Nov. 22, according to Bloomberg. As scheduled, after his visit to Vietnam, O’Brien will depart for the Philippines at the end of November 22.
Prime Minister attended APEC and G20 conferences On November 19, the Foreign Ministry said that, accepting the invitation of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, he will attend the 27th APEC Summit on November 20. This is the most important activity of the APEC Summit, which takes place online. With the theme “Harnessing Human Potential for a Future of Shared Prosperity”, APEC 27 will focus on discussing the global economic outlook, the response to Covid-19 and APEC’s post-2020 vision. He gave an important speech at the conference, shared assessments of the global and regional situation, issues raised for multilateral cooperation, and cooperation guidelines proposed by APEC.
From November 21-22, the Prime Minister will attend the G20 Conference using an online form. In 2020, Vietnam has attended most of the major G20 conferences. In particular, the Prime Minister attended the G20 Online Summit on the response to Covid-19 in March, thus demonstrating Vietnam’s responsibility, determination and results against the epidemic. At this conference, leaders will focus on discussions on how to deal with Covid-19, trade and investment, digital economy, and sustainable development. The Prime Minister is expected to attend and speak at the session on how to overcome the pandemic, restore growth and jobs and build a sustainable and resilient future.
