“Any action against Iran will inevitably face a serious response,” warned Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabiei in a statement posted on the government’s website on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
Rabiei issued the warning after Reuters quoted a US official who revealed during a November 12 meeting that President Trump ordered senior officials to introduce the possibility of targeting Iran’s main nuclear facility. but then decided not to attack. The meeting comes a day after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released a report that Iran has just completed the transfer of a centrifuge unit to the basement of a nuclear facility.
Also today, Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said “if I’m Iranian, I don’t feel comfortable at all” after the information above. If it suddenly enriches itself with uranium to make nuclear weapons, Iran could “take on the military might of the United States and possibly many other countries,” Steinitz said.
Iran has long claimed that its nuclear program is aimed at meeting peaceful needs. Spokesman Rabiei accused Israel of waging a war against Iran. “Personally, I do not foresee the possibility that they (the United States) want to attack to cause insecurity in the world and the region,” emphasized Mr. Rabiei.
