Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Nov. 16 urged the United States to negotiate with allies to establish global trade rules to counter China’s growing influence.
Responding to the question “Does the United States join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) of 15 Asia-focused countries” at a news conference in the city of Wilmington, Delaware, Biden said he still cannot discuss the policy Washington business because he is not in office and only has one president at a time.
“We represent 25% of the world economy. We need to cooperate with other democracies, 25% or more, to be able to set rules instead of making China and others decide.” result “- said Mr. Biden.

According to Reuters, the signing of the RCEP at the regional summit in Hanoi – Vietnam created the world’s largest trade agreement involving 30% of the global economy and 30% of the world’s population.
The agreement also marks a setback for US influence in the region after President Donald Trump left the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). The TPP was negotiated when Mr. Biden was vice president of former President Barack Obama.
The Democratic presidential candidate shared that he has a detailed business plan that will be discussed on January 21, 2021, a day after he was sworn in. While many TPP members, including Japan, and free trade supporters hope Biden will rejoin the treaty, Biden has said little on the matter. Biden’s advisers have also said that it will not lift tariffs on Chinese goods immediately.
Biden’s view is that Washington “will invest in the American workforce, make it more competitive, and ensure labor and environmental benefits in negotiations.”
On November 16, Biden’s team of running backs announced that they would receive a summary of national security issues on November 17. He is scheduled to have a brief national security meeting in Wilmington City with his running partner, Kamala Harris.
It is unclear who will hold the briefings and if any members of the Trump administration will attend. Earlier, Biden asked President Trump and his administration to cooperate with his transfer of power, especially on matters of national security and the Covid-19 pandemic.
