6 continuous cardboard cars on Trung Luong Highway

Long An6 continuous cardboard cars on the Trung Luong Highway caused traffic jams of more than 10 km on the west lane to Ho Chi Minh City on the night of November 15.

Around 8:30 pm, the line of cars circulated along the Trung Luong Highway, from the west to Ho Chi Minh City, when they reached the Ben Luc and Long An districts, they collided with each other.

At the scene, 6 cars suffered serious head and tail damage, including 3 trucks and 3 cars. In which, two 4-seater cars were sandwiched between two trucks, so the head and tail were torn and tight. Some people in the 3 cars were slightly injured and were pulled from the car by surrounding drivers.

The vehicles dispersed, occupying the entire lane, paralyzing the lane. It takes many drivers 4-5 hours to escape the traffic jam. Until midnight, the traffic police were able to approach the scene to resolve the accident.

Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Highway is almost 62 km long, has 4 lanes, traffic in 2010, it is the first highway in the south that connects Ho Chi Minh City with Long An, Tien Giang. In early 2019, the highway stopped charging due to the termination of the rights sale contract.

Nearly two years ago, the number of cars on the road has increased dramatically, peaking at more than 51,000 vehicles per day. In early July, the Ministry of Transportation proposed to the government to have a plan soon to return the charges by this fast track. Recently, damaged sections on the highway have completed the first repair phase after three months, at a cost of VND 22 billion.
