This morning, November 14, Secretary General and President of State Nguyen Phu Trong attended the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Hanoi) and received the Third Class Medal of Independence.
Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Hanoi) is the school of the Secretary General and President of the State, Nguyen Phu Trong, who studied in the period 1957-1963.
The meeting was attended by Politburo member, Hanoi Party Committee Secretary Vuong Dinh Hue; Chairman of the Office of the President of State Dao Viet Trung; Education and Training Minister Phung Xuan Nha and Party Central Committee Office Vice Chairman Nguyen Dac Vinh.
Here, Secretary General and President of State Nguyen Phu Trong shared many moving memories of years of study under the roof of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School. They were difficult and arduous years, each student who wanted to go to school had to walk dozens of kilometers, have to study and work to make ends meet … but beyond all, teachers and students struggled to overcome difficult teach well and learn well.

Expressing the enthusiasm and pride for the accomplishments that Nguyen Gia Thieu High School has made over the past 70 years, Secretary General and President Nguyen Phu Trong rated Nguyen Gia Thieu High School as one of the schools. It has a long history, good movement, good teaching, good study, a bright spot in Hanoi’s education sector, and has all the potential for future development.
The Secretary General and the President of the State hope and believe that with a 70-year tradition of building, developing, maturing, with many achievements and experiences and accumulated pride, in the coming times, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School will continue to develop, continue growing, constantly progressing, getting bigger and bigger results more and more.

On the 70th anniversary of its founding, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Hanoi) was honored to receive the Third Class Medal of Independence from the President of the State. On behalf of the President, Politburo member Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, the secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee presented the medal to the school.
On this occasion, the Minister of Education and Training, Phung Xuan Nha, provided the school with a computer room to serve the teaching and learning of the school’s teachers and students.
Founded in 1950 in Bac Ninh Province, in 1951, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School moved to its current location at 27, Lane 298, Ngoc Lam Street, Long Bien District, Hanoi City. The school’s education ladder currently has 2,000 students with 95 officers, teachers, and staff members; 100% of the teaching staff have standard training qualifications, of which the percentage exceeds 55% of training qualifications.
In the past 10 school years (from the 2010-2011 school year to the 2019-2020 school year), Nguyen Gia Thieu High School has 20 teachers who won awards in the City’s Excellent Teachers Contest; the rate of qualified students with excellent academic performance increased from 25.27% to 61%. In particular, in the 2019-2020 school year, the entire school had 98.24% of students rated as excellent and good academics, an increase of 4.93% compared to the 2018-2019 school year.
