HCMCThe scaffolding to build a 6-story house in Tan Binh district suddenly collapsed, causing three working people to fall to the ground and be injured.

Mr. Le Van Thuong (41, from Hoc Mon) and two colleagues stood on a scaffolding to build the wall of the second floor of the house at Cong Lo Street, Ward 15, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City, in the afternoon of November 12. Suddenly, the cable winch broke, dragging the overturned scaffold from a height of about 7 m.

Three people were crushed by the iron of the scaffold. Almost a dozen workers are working on the ground floor, taking the victims to District 12 Hospital 6 km away.

“Hearing a loud ‘roar’, I ran out and found an unconscious bricklayer, two others jumped, covered in sand,” said the witness.

This afternoon, District 12 Hospital said, three victims were hospitalized in a state of multiple injuries. In which, Mr. Thuong injured his chest, the other two people suffered head injuries. All were transferred to Hospital 175 to continue treatment.

The representative of the Tan Binh District Inspection said that this 6-story project is a combined office house, built for 6 months and has completed construction. Following the incident, the unit has issued a decision to sanction the construction unit for the failure to guarantee occupational safety and to suspend construction.
