With the published results, Biden has 238 electoral votes and needs 32 more votes to elect the president of the United States. Meanwhile, Trump has 213 votes and needs 57 votes to win.
The states currently unknown to the winner and loser include exactly Michigan (16 votes), Pennsylvania (20 votes), North Carolina (15 votes), Wisconsin (10 votes), Georgia (16 votes), Nevada (6 votes), Alaska. (3 votes).
With the number of votes counted, Biden is currently ahead of Trump in two major battlefield states, Michigan and Wisconsin. These are the two states that saw the most dramatic color change on Election Day, expanding Biden’s chances of winning. Each state currently has 5% of the unregistered votes and the difference between Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump is small at 0.3-0.63%. However, the count of counties is believed to give Biden an advantage, as they are all cities.
If Michigan and Wisconsin win, Mr. Biden only needs to win Nevada with 270 votes to win the final. It is currently leading the way in Nevada.
With just six votes, Nevada received less attention compared to the major battlefield states. Yet this dramatic race has made Nevada a place where election results can be determined. In the last 12 elections, the Republican party won 7, the Democrats won 5. However, in the last 7 states, these 5 states voted for the Democratic candidate. Therefore, the Democrats hope to win in this state.
Mr. Biden’s campaign says that if the vote counting stops now, then the former vice president will win, while President Trump’s campaign says “if we count all the legal votes, he will win,” according to Reuters.
