Regarding the cause of the major floods, which caused landslides, Mr. Trinh Dinh Dung suggested to the media agencies to provide factual information, avoid false information on this issue. The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that because, according to Mr. Dung, there have recently been non-objective press reports.
Mr. Dung said that when it rains, the water rises, without hydroelectricity, the stronger the water. Hydroelectric power must also discharge the overflow of water to ensure safety. “But I never saw about irrigated lakes” – said Mr. Dung and said that some irrigated lakes are more than hydroelectric lakes. Blame the government, the government is not objective.
According to Mr. Dung, when it rains, if there is no hydroelectric dam, the water will rise faster and will be more dangerous. “Scientists, ministries, public officials must have opinions,” Dung said.
As for the problem of landslides due to long-term rains, the soil contains a lot of water, also known as full of water, which makes the cohesion very poor. When there is an additional impact, it will cause very strong landslides. For example, in Quang Nam, when a storm is affected by local rain, the landslide is very strong. “There are a lot of forests in that area, not forests, as you see the photos,” Mr. Dung said.
Speaking more about the forests in Vietnam, Mr. Dung said that currently Vietnam ranks 50/193 countries and covers more than 40%, while in 1995 only 28%. “So afforestation in our country is very good. Some places are deforestation, mainly in the Central Highlands because people migrate a lot, looking for sources of economic development, so they cannot control the forests. But there are areas like the center, the northeast … now covered with forests, “Dung said.
Therefore, Mr. Dung said that some social media, news in the press have blamed forest clearing for landslides, blaming hydropower for landslides is not objective.
He also suggested scientists, opinion agencies, especially the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, experts from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, experts from the Ministry of Transport, experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development needs opinions, so as not to let the government do many things but still have false and incorrect information.
In addition, it also requested the Ministry of Planning and Investments to coordinate with the Ministry of Construction to develop a medium-term public investment program to build flood-proof housing in the Central region.
(OLP) – The Prime Minister instructs ministries and agencies to provide other support options so that soon people’s lives return to normal in addition to money.
