On the morning of October 30, the Bac Ninh Province People’s Court opened a trial in the first instance to hear the defendant Nguyen Thi Thu (32 years old, from Cao Bang) accused of appropriating a person under the age of 16 according to with article 153 of the Penal Code of 2015.
According to the First Instance Panel (Panel), defendant Thu has been administratively sanctioned twice for theft of property, once administratively sanctioned for violating the monogamous marriage regime, and once sent to reformatory.
After more than 2 hours of trial, the Panel sentenced the defendant Nguyen Thi Thu to 5 years in prison for the aforementioned crime. After hearing the verdict, Thu held his face and cried, his steps were unsteady.
The Panel assessed that Thu’s behavior violates the right to care for children, causing confusion among people, for which it is necessary to have a strict sentence. The 2-year-old boy is currently healthy, his physiology is still normal, the victim’s family does not claim civil compensation, for which the Panel does not mention.
Before that, in the interrogation section, Thu admitted to abducting a 2-year-old boy. However, to the Panel’s questions about identity, Thu replied “I don’t remember.”

However, through verification at Lang Son Provincial General Hospital, the investigating agency determined that there was no incident as reported by Thu.
To mend his feelings with Bang, Thu went to Nguyen Van Cu Park (Bac Ninh City) to kidnap Gia Bao (2 years old), lying that this is the common child of two people.
