On the afternoon of October 22, Ms Le Thi Thu Thao, wife of victim Tran Van Loc, Rao Trang 3 hydroelectric worker, said I received information from several Facebook friends that there is a person named Qu., His biological brother.

The imposter said her family needed VND 50 million to take care of the funeral and that she had just built a house, but they were still in debt, so they needed money.

This person gives his bank account number so that his friends on Thao social networks can transfer money to support.

Ms. Thao (currently living in Nam Tien Village, Nam Nung Commune, Krong No District, Dak Nong Province) confirmed that there is no younger brother named Qu. and she and her husband have to stay together and rent a house.

“I am contacting the police to report this,” Thao added.

On the evening of the same day, the Krong No district police leader said he was verifying the above information. The Krong No District Police also asked people to increase their vigilance, carefully verify donor information and avoid cases of fraud.

Before that, like Online youth reported that on October 20, a phone number came forward as N., a resident of Da Nang, called Ms. Thao to visit and encourage her family.

This person said that he would send his family VND 6 million from an international account and asked to confirm the correct phone number and Ms Thao’s account number.

This person then sends a message containing a link and asks Ms. Thao to enter her personal information (including account password). Immediately after entering enough information, Thao’s account lost 150 million dong. However, Thao was lucky enough to get a refund of VND 50 million due to the third failed transaction.

Currently, authorities are coordinating to find the aforementioned scammer.
