The latest incident occurred with cargo flight number CV6289 of Cargolux Airlines (Luxembourg) at Noi Bai International Airport.

Consequently, the captain, after operating a flight from Bahrain to Hanoi, reported being exposed to a laser in the cockpit while flying at an altitude of about 2,000 meters.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Emergency Command Department, Noi Bai Airport Operations Center informed the North Airport Authority and the Internal Security Department of the Hanoi Police to investigate and clarify the case.

On October 7, Vietjet flight VJ 168 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, which took off almost 3 km from Tan Son Nhat, was also directed by a laser directly into the cockpit.

On October 9, the captain of Vietnam Airlines flight VN1401 from Dong Hoi to Ho Chi Minh City also reported that a golf course laser was shining in the cockpit when the plane landed on runway 25L at Tan Son Nhat Airport.

The Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration said the act of pointing a laser at the aircraft while taking off and landing affects the pilot’s operation, seriously compromising flight safety, which can have particularly serious consequences for the life and health of the pilots and passengers of the flight.

Decree 162 on penalties for administrative offenses in the civil aviation sector clearly states that: The use of laser lights affects takeoff, landing and movement of aircraft at airports will be fined 30 – 40 million dong.

It is known that the Vietnam Aviation Administration has requested the competent authority to introduce a law that directs a laser beam on an aircraft to cause death, or damage to the health of the pilot, can be fined 30-100 million VND , non-custodial reform up to 3 years or imprisonment from 1 to 5 years.
