Fanpage posing as singer Thuy Tien also spent money to buy Facebook ads, to reach many people.

The incident was discovered by many Facebook users on the afternoon of October 18. On the same day, singer Thuy Tien also spoke on her personal page, asking the person named Ngan above to remove the article, otherwise the authorities will be required to intervene.
This spoofing is supposed to take advantage of the central region support campaign being implemented by Thuy Tien. The singer had been asking for support a few days ago and attracted great attention from social media users and her husband’s fans. The amount of donations has exceeded 40 billion VND.
This is not the first time that famous people in Vietnam have used their names to create phishing fan pages. For when these people get a lot of attention from the community, the bad guys create a personal page or fanpage with misleading photos and names, to like, then sell the fanpage or impersonate to sell. For example, when the Vietnam U23 team advanced deep into the Asian U23 tournament in 2018, hundreds of fan pages were created posing as players in a few hours.
The fact that singer Thuy Tien has asked for a large amount of money for the people of Central Vietnam has made her name “delicious prey” on social media. The bad guy leaving the account number and Le Thi Ngan’s name as stated above may be a clue to locate the account holder. However, according to many experts, it is not easy to find the person behind this scam. “Social media scammers are rarely ‘naive’ in leaving real personal information. They can take advantage of loopholes in some banks, borrow other people’s IDs and then make cards. Your account will be withdrawn immediately,” Thanh Trung said , expert in social networks.
