At noon on October 18, the river people at Pier 13, Binh Thanh Trung Commune, Lap Vo District, Dong Thap Province panicked when they discovered a large crocodile swimming under the Xang Lon Canal.

The commune government mobilized forces to the site and surrounded itself with dozens of people. “People use boats and ropes to catch crocodiles for about an hour,” said Vo Van Ba, a police officer from Binh Thanh Trung commune.
According to Mr. Ba, the fish is about 70 years old, Mr. Phan Hoang Nghi, 61, in the farming area. After being brought ashore, the crocodile was handed over to Mr. Nghi’s family.
On the morning of the same day, this fish was found climbing the B40 net fence to escape, then continued to crawl into the channel about 30m from the barn.
