On the morning of October 18, Mr. Ha Si Dong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee, confirmed that a landslide had just occurred in Huong Phung Commune, Huong Hoa District.
Initial information said there were more than 20 officers and soldiers in a house suspected of being buried. These people belong to the 337 National Defense Economic Team located in Huong Phung Commune. The landslide is said to have occurred around 1 a.m. on October 18.
At 3:00 am, the Quang Tri Province People’s Committee held an emergency meeting. A forward command post was established at Khe Sanh, Huong Hoa.

The first images of the scene of the alleged mountain landslide that buried 22 officers and soldiers from the 337th National Defense Economic Group in Huong Phung Commune (Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri) were recorded by people.

Currently, many people gathered in the landslide area where many soldiers were buried. The first images clearly show that the soil and rock have filled a building, the bulldozers have not yet reached the place.
