French President Emmanuel Macron said that the beheading of a teacher was a “terrorist attack on Islam” and that the teacher “taught freedom of expression.”

French media reported that the victim was killed by a young man after showing students cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

9 people were arrested, including the parents of a student from the school.

The attacker was shot and killed by police on Friday when the incident occurred. The news now says the culprit is an 18-year-old of Chechen origin.

The murder took place near the Bois d’Aulne high school in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, in the Yvelines region of Paris, where the victim was teaching.

The case took place during a trial in Paris for the 2015 attack on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, where the photos were published.

“They will not win, they will not divide us,” President Macron said at the venue.

It was reported that the headless master chanted Allah Akbar (Great God) before being knocked down.

The victim was the school’s history and geography teacher.

Last week, while teaching on freedom of expression, the teacher showed students cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
