On the afternoon of October 14, the XIV Congress of the Dien Bien Party, period 2020 – 2025 elected the Executive Committee of the Provincial Committee of the Party period XIV, period 2020 – 2025.
The Congress elected 51 members of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Party. In particular, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, was appointed by the Politburo and the Secretariat to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee for the XIV period, period 2020-2025 and introduced to elect the title of Provincial Secretary. As a result, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang worked as the Provincial Party Secretary. Mr. Mua A Son, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Mr. Le Thanh Do, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee were elected as Undersecretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
The meeting also elected the 11th Inspection Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Nguyen Sy Quan, Party Secretary of the Tua Chua District, as chair of the XIV Provincial Party Inspection Committee, term 2020-2025.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang (born 1973, from Hanoi, has a doctorate in economics) is an alternate member of the Party Central Committee. He used to be deputy director of the office and secretary to the CEO of Vietinbank, then deputy director and head of the corporate customer department of Vietinbank, director of the Vietinbank Hanoi branch.
In the period 2011-2014, he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietinbank.
In 2016 he was elected an alternate member of the Central Committee of the Party and in 2016 he was elected a member of the XIV National Assembly.
In July 2018, the Politburo assigned him to join the Executive Committee, the Quang Ninh Party Provincial Committee Standing Committee from 2015 to 2020, and he was elected Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.
In July 2019, he was elected Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee for the 2016-2021 term.
On October 11, 2020, the Politburo granted the Politburo decision on the resignation of Mr. Nguyen Van Thang – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Quang Ninh People’s Provincial Committee – to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee.
