The Ministry of Public Security has just announced the draft Circular on the citizen card model to collect comments from agencies, organizations and individuals within a period of 2 months.

A new point is that the information on the front such as name, age, hometown, date of birth, sex, nationality … has English as well as Vietnamese. The front of the card also has a security blank to prevent counterfeiting.

The back of a citizen’s identity card includes the following information: identification characteristics; date, month and year of issuance of the card; title of the person authorized to issue the card; signature, full name and full name of the card issuer; stamp with the national emblem of the issuing body.

In particular, the new card model is attached with an electronic chip instead of the black electronic barcode; add the ICAO code line (code of the International Civil Aviation Organization); QR codes (quick response codes or two-dimensional barcodes).

The validity period of an identity card is calculated according to the age of exchange of the identity card as prescribed in article 21 of the Citizen Identity Law (identity cards must be exchanged when the citizen turns 25, 40 and 60 full years).

This new citizen ID card model is expected to replace the existing citizen ID card and will be rolled out nationwide.
