RT on October 12 reported that the incident occurred 2 days ago. There was a scandal between the two companies mentioned above about who would eat in the cafeteria first. As a result, at least 21 soldiers were injured. The IDF describes this as an “unusual and serious” incident.
The two training companies represented the 585 Bedouin Reconnaissance Unit and the Shaked Battalion. The incident, which took place at the Har Keren training base, was so intense that a soldier was seen carrying his weapon.
The incident lasted a few minutes with the participation of about 30 people. Most of the wounded soldiers were treated at the scene, while eight were hospitalized.
An IDF investigation found that the soldiers had gotten into a fight as they lined up in the cafeteria. After that things quickly got out of hand due to the “failure of the entire chain of command”.
Everything does not stop there. Two of the wounded soldiers continued to fight while being treated at the hospital, but were quickly separated.
Both companies involved have been suspended from training. Instead, they will attend cognitive classes and conduct mediation.
Both soldiers and commanders who do not stop the fight will face severe penalties.
