Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Quang Ninh Province, was appointed to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and was elected Secretary of Dien Bien Province.
The Politburo decision on personnel work was delivered to Mr. Thang on the evening of October 11 by Politburo member Mr. Pham Minh Chinh at the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee headquarters.
Thang will cease to join the Executive Committee, the Quang Ninh Party Provincial Committee Standing Committee, appointed to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and elected to be the Secretary of the Dien Bien Party Provincial Committee for the period 2020-2025 .

Speaking after receiving the Politburo decision, Mr. Thang stated that the work experiences and lessons in Quang Ninh will remain the baggage to try to complete new tasks in Dien Bien province.
Mr. Thang is 47 years old, from Hanoi and has a PhD in finance – monetary theory. Before becoming Vice President and then President of Quang Ninh Province, Mr. Thang spent 18 years working at VietinBank, holding many positions, such as Director of the VietinBank Hanoi Branch, Managing Director, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
