On the night of October 9, a source said that the CSDT agency of the Ministry of Public Security had issued a decision to prosecute the defendant and arrested and detained Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Director General of the Development Investment Corporation South Vietnam Highway (VEC).
In addition to Mr. Hung, six other defendants were also prosecuted, along with the crime of violation of the regulations on investment in construction, which had serious consequences.
Initially, seven suspects were charged with violating construction regulations during the acceptance and construction of the Danang-Quang Ngai Expressway.
With regard to this case, CQĐT has so far prosecuted dozens of defendants, many of whom are former leaders of the VEC or the executive boards of the Da Nang – Quang Ngai highway project management.
The Da Nang – Quang Ngai highway project is invested by the Ministry of Transportation, VEC (a 100% state-owned company) is the project investor, using huge loans from foreign financial institutions. Government guarantees to invest, with a total length of 139.2 km, divided into 2 phases, the total investment cost approved is more than 34 billion VND.
