4 people died from floods in Central Vietnam

The ship TK12 Vietship sank this morning near the Cua Viet area, Quang Tri province. There are 5 people on board, currently 3 people have been safely rescued by Vietship 01 and 2 people are adrift at sea.

Four provinces of Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam have evacuated 3,250 households with 10,990 people from deeply flooded areas, high risk of landslides. 37 communes in these provinces are isolated due to heavy flooding. Highways 15, 12, 9B, 12A were flooded to a depth of 0.5-1 m, obstructing traffic.

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasts, the flooding on the Thach Han River (Quang Tri) this afternoon exceeded alarm 3 (the highest level) of 0.7 m, the Kien Giang River in Le Thuy (Quang Binh) exceeded alarm 3 is 0.59 m. The flooding of the rivers from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien Hue is slowly rising, the Quang Nam and Quang Ngai rivers are falling.

Forecast for the next two days, still due to the influence of the tropical convergence that connects the low pressure area between the East Sea and the cold air, the provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai will continue to rain heavily, the total precipitation is 250-350mm, there are places above 400mm. As of October 11, the Central region is likely to have the next heavy rain that will last until October 14.
