“It is not his fault, it is China’s fault,” the US leader emphasized in a White House video on October 7 (local time). Also in the video, Trump mentioned his own recovery from Covid-19.
The president of the United States did not specifically say how he will force China to pay the price, but according to analysts, the possibility is related to trade.
So far, both Beijing and Washington are suffering from the ongoing trade war, and China has gotten tougher after months of poor bilateral negotiations.
The video above was posted by President Trump shortly after he returned to the White House from Walter Reed Military Hospital, where he spent a few days treating Covid-19, the first pandemic outbreak in the city of Wuhan. Then China spread to more than 200 countries and territories around the world.
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for Covid-19 weeks ago. The President of the United States then went to Walter Reed Military Hospital for medical treatment, while Melania remained in the White House. After four days, the president was dismissed on October 5.
