Two “apocalyptic” planes appeared around the time President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were diagnosed with Covid-19.
Fox News quoted a spokesman for the US Strategic Command as saying the flights were “pre-planned and completely random.” A senior US defense official also stated that nothing has changed in his military and stressed that “the president remains the commander-in-chief.”
Observers on social media noted that one Boeing E-6B Mercury flew along the east coast, the other was in Oregon airspace.

The E-6B is the type of aircraft used by the government to transmit instructions to the US fleet of missile submarines in waters around the world. These ships can deploy the Trident Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) that carries a nuclear warhead.
The E-6B was part of Operation “Mirror”, today known as the Air Command Post (ABNCP). They are used to grant command and control over the US nuclear forces if any of the command centers on the ground are destroyed or rendered inoperative.
It is speculated that the airfield headquarters was deployed as a warning to any enemy of the US after President Trump tested positive for Covid-19.
The US Navy is the operator of the E-6B fleet consisting of 16 aircraft, of which at least one E-6B normally operates in the sky.
Military aircraft tend to turn off their communications equipment to avoid tracking. But the two E-6Bs detected on October 2 do the opposite, suggesting the crew might want people to “see” them.

Ms. Harris tested Covid-19 on October 1 and found negative results. She is expected to face Vice President Mike Pence in a debate in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 7.
Vice President Pence and his wife Karen Pence also tested negative for Covid-19 on the morning of October 2.
