On October 1, 2020, the Dak Lak Province CSDT Police Department issued a decision to prosecute the accused and a two-month arrest warrant against Pham Dinh Quy for defamation, in accordance with Article 156 of the Code Penal. On the same day, Dak Lak Provincial VKSND issued a decision approving the decision to prosecute the accused and a temporary arrest warrant for Pham Dinh Quy.
