According to the AFP news agency, September 30 was the fourth consecutive day of the bloodiest conflict in many years between the Armenian and Azerbaijani forces involving Karabakh, a province made up mainly of Armenians. Separated from Azerbaijan since 1994 after the dissolution of the former Soviet Union.
The fighting broke out last Sunday (September 27) and lasted for four consecutive days in which the two sides fought each other with great firepower and accused each other of being the first to make war.
Almost 100 people have died in conflicts. Both sides announced that the enemy had suffered heavy casualties, but this information was difficult to verify.
Azerbaijan has not yet admitted any deaths, but an AFP journalist in the southern Beylagan region of the country has seen dozens of women mourn the death of a soldier in the conflict.
Fears of a conflict between the two countries could erupt into full-blown war and lead Russia and Turkey into battle, and in recent days, many politicians and international organizations have urged Armenia and Azerbaijan to stop. shoot and dialogue.
As a country with a military agreement with Armenia but also friendly relations with Azerbaijan, Russia urged the two countries to end the war and offered to help promote negotiations.
However, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on September 30 said he could not discuss it at this time.
“It is very inappropriate to speak of a summit between Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia at a time of intense war,” said Nikol Pashinyan. “There must be an environment and conditions conducive to negotiations.”
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also rejected the idea of negotiation in an interview with the Russian television station on September 29.
“The Armenian Prime Minister openly declared that Karabakh belonged to Armenia. In this case, what kind of negotiation process can we talk about?” Said Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
Since the end of last week, the fighting between the two sides has never stopped and today, September 30, the two sides continue to have new conflicts.
